William Chan has dedicated over three decades to the field of Health Information Technology. Throughout his career in the Hong Kong Hospital Authority (HA), he has had the opportunity to contribute to various mission-critical systems.
Some of the initiatives he’s been grateful to be a part of include:
- Spearheading the implementation of filmless hospitals and in-patient medication order entry systems at HA
- Leading clinical systems implementation for the Department of Health
- Contributing to the development of the Hong Kong-wide eHealth Record Sharing System
- Establishing the Data Collaboration Lab (DCL) to support university research and AI development utilising 30+ years of clinical data
- Managing the Program Management Office for the initial phase of Smart Hospital projects at HA
William joined the Chinese University of Hong Kong Medical Centre in Mar 2024. He has devised the IT strategic plans, including Data, Analytics and AI strategies, for the sustainable growth of Hong Kong’s first Smart Hospital.
