After working as an Intern at national hospitals, he entered Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare (MHLW) in 1997.
Since then, he has served in several posts within MHLW such as Director of HealthCare Planning Division, Director of Health Division, Head of International Food Office, Head of Cancer Control Office. He was Cabinet Councilor, Cabinet Agency for Infectious Disease Crisis Management (CAICM),Cabinet Secretariat from July 2023 to July 2024. He has been in his current position since July 2024.
He also has an experience working at WHO Headquarters in Geneva, Permanent Mission of Japan to the United Nations, as Head of Global Health Policy Office, Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
He graduated from Nagoya University School of Medicine in 1996, received the Master of Public Health from Harvard University School of Public Health in 2004 and received the PhD from Nagoya University Graduate School of Medicine in 2007.
