Simon Lin is Vice President & Managing Director of APAC at HIMSS, a global advisor and thought leader supporting the transformation of the health ecosystem through information and technology. Since 2014, he has led the charge in driving the organisation’s mission in the Asia-Pacific region.
Over the past 12 years, Lin has been a key figure in the region’s health information management space, engaging government and health system leaders in digital health policy and strategy in more than 15 Asia-Pacific nations. The foundational work that he spearheaded around the region – through platforms such as the HIMSS thought leadership conferences and government roundtables – in areas such as cybersecurity, interoperability and value-based care, have enabled APAC countries’ governments and health systems to see the fruits of their digital transformation endeavours through improved clinical outcomes, operational efficiencies and most notably in their pandemic response efforts.
Lin has been in advisory positions for a number of significant digital health initiatives in the region, such as in the development of fully digital smart hospitals like Ng Teng Fong General Hospital in Singapore and the Royal Children’s Hospital in Australia. He was also responsible for the increase in adoption of the HIMSS Maturity Models in Asia-Pacific, with a fast-growing number of health systems leveraging these tools in their digital strategies today. Through his efforts, healthcare organisations in the region have been put on the map as leaders in digital maturity – with notable names being the Samsung Medical Center in South Korea, Chang Gung Memorial Hospital in Taiwan, and Apollo Hospitals in India.
Lin holds a Bachelor of Commerce from Curtin University, majoring in Management and Marketing.
