Dr. Shih-Sheng Chang is a cardiologist with expertise in critical cardiac care and interventional cardiology. He served as the Chief Secretary at China Medical University Hospital in Taiwan, where he played a pivotal role in advancing smart hospital initiatives. His contributions include implementing Business Intelligence (BI) quality and process management tools, integrating AI models into clinical workflows, and pioneering unmanned service counters. Dr. Chang furthered his expertise in AI applications in healthcare during advanced training at the National Institutes of Health (NIH) and Mayo Clinic in the United States, where he developed deep-learning models for assessing cardiac function using coronary cine images, providing physicians with enhanced physiological insights during catheterization procedures. He currently leads an in-house AI team dedicated to developing patient-centered AI solutions that enhance healthcare quality, improve operational efficiency, and reduce the workload of medical professionals. The team is also leveraging advanced language models to address specific medical issues, such as assisting with nursing plans, handover records, and chemotherapy side effect assessments. They also utilize combined Chinese and English input for speech recognition and leverage LLMs to populate optimized medical records into the corresponding fields automatically.
