Dr. Deok-cheol Kwon is a professor at JEONBUK National University and the head of the Institute for Regional Community Development.
Dr. Kwon began his public service in April 1988 at the Ministry of Health and Welfare. Serving as the General Director for Bureau of Healthcare Policy, the Head for Healthcare Policy Office, Vice Minister of Health and Welfare, and President of the Korea Health Industry Development Institute(KHIDI) and the Minister of Health and Welfare. During his tenure as the Minister of Health and Welfare, he is credited with leading Korea’s efforts to overcome the challenges posed by COVID-19.
